Can anyone advise pls , this morning my daughter went into a well known superstore and was approached and asked to leave the store as she had been banned for shop lifting the previous day , obviously my daughter was mortified and asked them if they could prove the allegations being made they stated that she was caught on cctv , my daughter then asked to view this cctv footage as she knew she hadn't stolen anything the store manager refused to show her any proof they had that she had been caught on camera stealing she also offered to give then any I'd photos and photos of disinguishing marks in tattoos and so forth , they refused flat out to show any evidence of any stealing , so my daughter told them to call the police , they also refused to call the police , so my daughter said she would call them at which point the manager said go on then , so that's exactly what she did and told them she would quite happily be arrested if they could show proof of her stealing , obviously she knows they have no proof of her stealing , the store manager stilll refused to show her any proof and continued to call her a thief .I don't understand how a store can get away with this kind of defamation of character, and utter humiliation in front of dozens of other customers without providing proof .my daughter has contacted head office and I have contacted the ceo for his help.can anyone pls advise in case the superstore still refuses to show proof of the allegations

The store is their premises and they do not need a reason to refuse your daughter entry.

Therefore even if they refuse to show her evidence they can still ban her from their store as it is private property.

Your daughter could send a Subject Access Request Letter to request the CCTV of the day in question, but even if she isn't on it they can still ban her from their store as it is private property.

Personally I'd complain to Head Office and see what that brings, but if nothing then I'd take my custom elsewhere.

Good on your daughter for standing up for herself, I can imagine I'd have just left the shop and never returned.....

She could send them a subject access request asking for any records they hold about her including any CCTV / other images. I believe they have something in the back room with pictures of 'banned' customers, it seems like it is mistaken identity and the shop were just too stubborn to back down and admit their error.

Yes according to tesco they have caught her stealing 3 times and last week they said they demanded she emptied all her possessons then threw her out of the store , unfortunatley for them it wasn' my daughter they caught stealing or that they threw our of the shop , but you'd think that of this woman has been caught stealing they would know who they were looking for .they didn' even ask my daughter' name , surely to God they must have at some point got this other girls name.thank you so much for your advice

If they had the wrong person as you say then E-Mail their CEO and head PRIVATE & PERSONAL and make a formal complaint, giving all the facts you know.
