  • DVLA fine for not taxing a car I sold

Hi guys, I'm kinda hoping you can quickly throw me in the right direction with this one.

I sold a car last June with tax and MOT via ebay for spares and repairs. I had actually bought another breifly before selling it, and have taxed it twice since, so I'm not the type to leave cars untaxed.

I sent off the V5, didnt get the 4 week notice of this, by the time i realised it was too late. DVLA reminded me 2 months ago it was untaxed, I phoned and explained the situation, they advised i write to have my details updated and me to be taken off the keeper list.

The letter obviously wasnt acted on as recently i had a final reminder, 30 april actually.

However Phillips 'bailiffs' decided to write to me on the 8th june demanding payment. Even if i do not own the car i still need to pay it and notify the DVLA. So tomorrow i plan on writing again to the DVLA, but i think i need help wording this letter to them, so they actually take notice of what i told them.

Also, I have had no notice of assignment from DVLA, do they not need to provide this before issuing to DCA's?

    Thanks in advance,

    Tommy.
