• MET Parking Charge Notice

I am the Driver of our family veh & my husband is a disabled person we are a family already living on the breadline. He was earlier this year Diagnosed with Terminal Lung cancer at the age of 38 & we decided to scrape together what we could & take our 8yr old daughter to a local theme park in a neighboring town for a few hours we had never been to before as it was the week before his next chemotherapy & being that we had never been we did our research & decided that we would park in the sea life centre car park as it was our nearest car park for wheelchair & toilet access for my husband to the car. However unbeknownst to me at the time it was also carnival day & the town was heaving so when we got there I was totally thrown as it was packed full so had to change plan & drive around to find alternative parking.
We are new to the disabled badge scheme having only had it for a month & not used it very often as my husband has been in & out of hospital so if he is not with me i dont use it. So when a car park space in the ‘Marine parade car park’ became available i parked displayed my badge & time that i arrived thought i was abiding by the rules of my badge as required by law & we were away. It was only when i returned to find i had a parking charge notice that i found that there was something wrong. When i looked at the charges board it said disabled badge holders were to clearly display their badges & use designated bays (there were no lines for anyone it was a glorified piece of waste land) but in smaller writing in brackets there was the wording: (PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO CONCESSIONS).
DO I APPEAL, IGNORE, or PAY???? Help???

    Re: MET Parking Charge Notice

Definitely appeal, hopefully mystery1 will be along later to give you a bit more (some) insight but didn't want to read and run, you sound like you have enough on your plate without narky traffic wardens. I hope you had a wonderful day out at the theme park regardless

You couldn't park in a designated bay if there were no lines/designated bays in the car park...for starters.

Did you take a piccie of the sign board by any chance?

Was it a ticket on the vehicle ?

If so file it and wait for a notice to keeper which will come at least 28 days after th date of parking but before 56 days. Then post up the notice so we can appeal. (suitably sanitised of personal info)

                    Re: MET Parking Charge Notice

                    Dear Sirs,

I, as registered keeper, wish to invoke your appeals process. The driver did not see any signs . I note your notice to keeper is fundamentally flawed when compared to PoFA 2012 schedule 4 para 8 in several aspects .

Should you reject my appeal please supply a popla code.

                    Yours etc

If popla is need let me know.

mystery1 will this work seeing as the car was clearly parked infront of the sign as shown in one of their pictures.

It's definitely worth a chance!! If they (MET) reject your appeal then POPLA usually works xx

Ask them if they've accepted your appeal (really you just want to confirm they got it )
