  • Single Justice Procedure Notice - But I didn't receive a PCN?

    Hello all,

Just been served with a Single Justice Procedure Notice date 27/09/2016 for "Failure to comply with Insurance Requirements", in a nutshell, not declaring my car SORN. I had the car parked at my brothers and I thought this was fine as it had 11 months MOT on it, road tax (Not sure how long though but it hadn't expired.) and he has Drive other Cars on his insurance in case of an emergency. I was working on the car in my free time to sell it.

The DVLA claim they sent me a Fixed Penalty Notice on the 23/06/2016 but I have absolutely no recollection of this. I did get a letter however from the Motorists Insurance Bureau in late August saying I "still hadn't paid my fine" which I thought was an attempt to fleece me because I hadn't received any official correspondence from the DVLA with a fine amount on it?! Their only payment option was over the phone as the only reference they had on the letter was "Our REF:stayinsured" so I couldn't pay through any DVLA online pages.

If I had seen an FPN for the offence, I would have paid it. Now they want a plea, how do I go about this?

    Thank you all in advance.

Ah I see, it was parked in his driveway. I don't have much going for me but the guilty plea do I?

As far as I know, the vehicle should either be SORNed or be insured per CIE.

Info on the web confirms this, time to pay or try to fight it
