  • Civil Enforcement Ltd - About to be passed to Court unless I pay £236!

    @mystery1 Please help.

    These letters were delivered to my previous address and therefore I did not have a chance to respond within the right timeframes. I called the solictor which the case has been passed to this morning. They say the full amount is still due despite the fact that my address changed shortly after the parking charge and I have therefore not seen these until now (I paid a visit to my old address on the weekend).

    hey say my only option is to pay the £236 in full or they will proceed to court. Are these the only options? Will CEL take me to court and if so, what am I likley to pay if I lose? If it it's not much more then I think I should take the chance.

    Should I give them my new address to ensure that all new notices come to me?

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Zzzzps being debt collectors cannot go to court as they do not own the debt. CEL can but that is not the threat at the moment. File and ignore.

      Thanks m1. Should I let them know my new address? They have asked me to send them a utility bill to prove that it has changed. Also, what would be worst case if they do go to court and I lose? Is it the £236 plus courts fees of circa £25? Or are there other fees too?

      Thanks again

        Yes inform them of address, you don't need to prove it.

        To be honest i've not seen anyone lose against them so typical costs awarded are a mystery to me.

        ParkingEye usually get £175 (total awarded including costs) but sometimes £215 when the claim was higher. The chance of paying more than the claimed amount is as low as their chance of winning.
