  • Parking Charge Notice issued by National Parking Enforcement Ltd

    Hi

I was directed to Legal Beagles by someone who responded to my question on our local Streetlife.

The situation is that I stopped for no more than 2 minutes in a roadway leading to a development of apartments whilst waiting for my wife.
I remained in the car with the engine running.

The charge, of £100 but reduced to £60 if paid promptly, was justified by the reason "not parked in a marked parking bay".

The road, although private, had a single yellow line, and the sign stated

"This private parking area is reserved for permit holders only.
A valid parking permit must be clearly displayed in the front windscreen at all times.
All vehicles must be parked wholly within a marked parking bay.
No parking on any roadways, crosshatched or paved areas"

The "enforcers" sent me photographs of the sign dated 8 December 2015 whereas I stopped there on 26 August 2016.

They are acting on behalf of a local firm of property agents.

    Has anyone any advice, please?

I guess you have no right of appeal left due to the time and usually only getting 28 days.

If so only a letter before action or court papers merit a reply.
