  • Parking Eye due to reg mistake

Hi, I just received a PCN from Parking Eye. I was worried this might happen, and thankfully kept the receipt.

If reg numbers are entered incorrectly by the driver, e.g. a 5 instead of S or 0 instead of O that surely is a common sense point and grounds for an appeal?

How should I approach appealing this? I have a scan of the receipt.

    Many thanks in advance

      Hi

      Do you live in England/Wales?
      Is the vehicle hire/HP/lease/motability/company vehicle?
Have you been in contact with P/E....if so, have you ID'd who was driving at the time? (Just yes or no...it's never a good idea to reveal the ID, not even on internet fora).
Could you post up a pic of the postal Notice to Keeper? (front & rear, obscure personal details but leave all dates/times visible).
      & pics of site signage.

Mistakes in vehicle reg input is a bit tricky.
As P/E is BPA, there doesn't seem to be clear cut guidance on this.

        Hiya,
        • Live in England.
        • Car is owned by us on PCP finance agreement with manufacturer.
        • I started to respond through their online portal but then stopped as I wanted to see if there was a way to approach this and maximise chance of success. Nothing submitted.
        • I'll try to scan and upload in a bit. Before I do what should I block out? Photos of licence plus any personally identifiable information?

        Thanks

PPCs are not in the common sense business. Nor are they in the parking business, actually, but in the parking charge business--one endorsed by no less august a body than the Supreme Court. I mention this just in case you think that a common sense reason will automatically be accepted. PE is allegedly one of the more "reputable" PPCs, so it is worth a try (if you can otherwise prove that you have paid), but do not expect them to accept it. Prepare for POPLA...

I would assume it's in ours.

Are things really this complicated? What has the world come to where a legitimate and simple reason requires so many hoops to jump through?!

Also, I'm confused. If anybody working for P/E reads these forums (having read just one other thread it seems this is the case) then surely redacting is a pointless exercise, and the date, location and car type would be sufficient to work out which case this is?

There is a very good reason for asking about the V5 but your posted PCN now shows that it is not relevant.

So take out the car type and make in your redaction. The date is important in trying to work out the best way to sort these out.

It is possible that many persons may have access to & use of the vehicle.

If someone posts "I received a Notice to Keeper.....I parked....", then the inference is that the registered keeper was also the driver.
Whereas if they say "The driver parked......", the parking management co's have a much more difficult task.
The registered keeper has many technical defences via the Protection of Freedoms Act Schedule 4.
Revealing the driver ID may well blow these out of the water.

Conditions that must be met for purposes of paragraph 4
                            5
                            (1)
The first condition is that the creditor—

                            (a)
has the right to enforce against the driver of the vehicle the requirement to pay the unpaid parking charges; but

                            (b)

is unable to take steps to enforce that requirement against the driver because the creditor does not know both the name of the driver and a current address for service for the driver.
