  • I haven't received the second council tax and they have now sent a reminder notice.

I paid the first council tax as soon as I've received it (from the 7th of January to the 31th of March). I haven't receive nothing in April and now I got a reminder saying that I have to pay the whole amount for 1 year plus a fee (I immediately paid the arrears). Is it possible? Can I challenge it? Can it be a mistake?
Thanks guys I'm a bit panicking here because it's £1000+ for a very small flat!

I would call the council, check if any payments were missed, what instalments have been made etc. Then if any have been missed, ask that you setup a payment plan to get all payments back on track before the end of the council tax period. If they are not willing to do so (although I would be suprised if they will refuse a reasonable payment plan) then I am sure some of the beagles can advise further (a written offer is usually the next step etc.
