  • Council awarded tennis courts contract to a company

Dear admin, I am not sure if this post relevant to this , please move this post to the relevant area.

I just returned from my local park with a terrible news that my free tennis courts are no more free. I am living in Croydon since 2013 and used to play in nearest free tennis courts at Addiscombe recrectional grounds. Tennis courts were in perfect order and lots of people were using these courts but around 2 weeks ago, refurbishment work started and they removed old steal fence and nets etc (although they were fine) and put new fence and nets and now GLL/Better going to manage these courts and we have to pay a fee and book online to use these courts.

I don't know why on earth council could do that? community was not informed and consulted about this. Can we do something to take our courts back or these are gone now?

Why on earth council can do this? they deprived community of this facility and this would decrease the use of this facility anyway, shame on those who done this
