  • Court's Written Transcript

    Hi all,

I live in Northern Ireland, and I'm aware that the law is different from the mainland UK & Wales.

However, what I'm asking should be quite universal.

I've got a letter from the Court, and the Judge said the followings:

"I am content for -ME- to have the recording released by the Office of the Lord Chief Justice on the usual conditions".

    My questions:

    1. Is this limited only to the recording (audio and/or video)?
    2. If I request for written Transcript would it be classed as recording?
    3. What about the Judge's note, is that also part of the things being recorded in court?
    4. What does "on the usual conditions" mean?

Thank you all in advance for your insight.

What your asking for doesn't seem to be universal in my eyes.

In England and Wales, we have procedures relating to legal proceedings and they are set out in the Civil Procedure Rules. I presume that the Courts in Northern Ireland have a similar set up but I don't think that they are universal, the rules will be specific to Northern Ireland. Indeed, having a quick google brings up the NICTS Court Rules (https://www.justice-ni.gov.uk/public...s-publications) and no doubt the questions you are asking will be set out somewhere in there.

I would have no idea what "usual conditions" means but the CPR in England and Wales allows for a written transcript subject to payment through an authorised company, but not a copy of the recording itself. As for the meaning of "recording" this will likely be defined in the Court Rules so again that should be your starting point.

In short, you should check the NICTS Court Rules for clarification or alternatively contact the court itself.

If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you
