Hi All, I am hoping that someone may be able to offer me some advice regarding the following:
I currently work for a Private Ambulance Company providing front line services for a local trust.
We recently changed contracts to work 4 days on followed by 4 days off, doing 12 hour shifts...
In our new contracts it has our place of work as my base station... ( I wont name it because that would give things away )
My employer is in the habit of phoning us (or emailing which breaches their own protocols) to inform us that we must go work from a different station and travel to that station in our own time !! so that we are ready to start our shift at the official shift start time...
*Are they allowed to do this ??
*Can they make us travel in our own time ??
*My car insurance is Fully Comp with SDP & Commuting to a single place of work - my contract states which station I am based at could cause issues - surely my employer cannot make me do this...
My issue is this - as i work a 14 hour day by the time i have travelled to and from work can they reasonably expect us to travel to another station in our own vehicle in our own time ???
I would appreciate any advice possible please....
