        Hi,

        If this supposed debt is from 2011, it now being 2018, it could be time barred. 5 years in Scotland, 6 in the rest of the UK.

          it depends on when the last payment was tho' (many DCAs argue it was made within the timescales for SB'd)

            It seems the OP moved into the property in 2011 but they continued to pay the utility company for at least six months (for the gas supply) and possibly twelve months (for the electricity supply) and then continued to argue/dispute the account for some time after which could be seen as acknowledging the debt for Statute Barred purposes.

            It isn't only the last payment which dictates the SB date.

              Thank you all, sorry it's not 2011, it's between 2012 and 2013. I don't think it dictates SB at present.
              I have filed my defence and have now received small claims tracking letter.
