      For £313 I'd have to agree it's not worth damaging the credit file for 6 years, it is already marked as settled and you don't want to set off any more reporting on it... however there is a way to go before any judgment. Costs could only increase at the point they pay the hearing fee ( then I think only £25 for a £300 claim ) so I'd wait for it to be allocated and you've got a hearing date at least - they could pull out at any point, normally at the point of paying the hearing fee or exchanging witness statements. You could settle at any point if you can put some money aside to do that. Costs might be added if it does go through Witness Statements and on through a hearing, and you might be able to get a reduced settlement by doing it earlier ( before witness statements ). There do seem to be issues with their Default Notices and Assignments but whether the court would agree I don't know. If you did want to carry on through court then you'd have 28 days after Judgment ( if it went against you) to pay before anything was registered on your file ( but of course you could have additional costs against you then - they should be limited in small claims unless the court found you were unreasonable )
