    have received a court threat from bank smart today threatening all sorts of evil things that are going to happen to me

    You are going to have to give a lot more details if you want anyone to say anything useful!

      Post up the letter with all personal details removed, somebody maybe able to assist but as Debt Camel says with the scant details you have provided it will be currently very difficult to help.
      Sorry i'm just thinking out loud, it might be irrelevant, I am not employed in anyway in the legal profession, please ensure you research any advice I give before using it I have been known to be wrong on multiple occasions.
