  • RLP CLAIM for shoplifting

About a month ago i shoplifted some products from primark, i know very stupid of me. Anyway i was caught and went through the entire process of questioning and then they took every possible id from me they also saw my latest pay slip to confirm my address and then noted my national insurance number, my brp etc. I've received a letter from RLP for a 150 pounds fine.

now i am in a situation to which i need the advice of the experts here, i am an international student, my visa is expiring next month and i am leaving the UK, what if i don't pay the fine and just leave? do you think there'll be record against me, also if i apply for a visa again after a few years, would it affect my application. will they maintain a criminal record against me which could affect me further if i ever try to come back or apply for a job?

Kindly help as i am really tensed about it, and if there is no solution i am left with less time, i need to arrange for the money from somewhere. any help would be appreciated

There were some responses to your question yesterday - see here http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...0746-RLP-claim

In short, the letter you got from RLP isn't a fine and doesn't go on any official record anywhere. The letter is simply a speculative invoice made to look like a fine, hoping that you'll pay. Don't pay it. You will NOT get a criminal record if you don't pay and it will have no effect on you ability to re-enter the UK.

    I like your pin shot
I keep it with your letter
    Done up in blueprint blue
It sure looks good on you
And when you smile for the camera
I know I'll love you better

    Then the shutter falls
You see it all in 3-D
    It's your favorite foreign movie

      hello,

thank you for your advice, so i should not worry about it and leave the UK without paying the fine and forget about it? because i dont think they will track me back to my country or something?

they will not bother they only hope you pay up to a speculative claim for losses = losses = NO LOSSES., enjoy your life and treat it as a lesson learnt

Yes don't pay and feel free to leave and return if you want. They're not any kind of authority, just a company, so can't track you.

            exactly !!

Just ignore anything that arrives before you leave the UK and it's over, no fine, no police record, nothing xx
