  • Will ignoring RLP letters lead to criminal record?

Hi, sorry to post again, I have read loads of points saying to ignore the letters from RLP about attempted shoplifting, and I am going to do so, but I was just wanting to check this doesn't lead to an eventual criminal record, as I have read even if it is taken to court (which I know is highly unlikely anyway) it is a civil matter, not criminal, so just checking it would not lead to a criminal record?

thank you, this site has already been so helpful!

    That is correct.
Ignoring lowlifes is not a criminal offence and will never lead to an appearance in a criminal court nor will it result in a criminal record.
What it will mean is you will not pay them anything, and will keep your money

Agree with des8 ... but will add that rlp will not take you to court either (that would be for the original shop to do, and they've lost all interest in you now it's been passed on).
