Voluntary Termination and Future Loans

Hey,

Does anyone have further information rgarsinf VT'ing a car and the impact on future loans.

I.e. the car is in my partners part for finance and we want to VT it. He is due to go uni and will be required to apply for a student loan, will it affect this at all?

Further to the above, I have read about this but keep reading conflicting information so would be grateful if someone could shed some light.
