  • Data Protection Act, UK Customer Data and Cloud Providers

    Hi,

I am looking into using either Microsoft Office 365 or Google Apps for Business to store UK based customer data (invoices, emails etc.).

I have heard mixed information concerning the legality of storing of customer data (in regards to the Data Protection Act) outside the UK. I have checked with both companies and they state that they store all data in either Amsterdam or Dublin.

Can anyone point me to a site which summarises what is and isn't permitted?

    Thanks

The ICO is probably the best place to speak with if you have concerns. Are you registered for data protection ?
